The answer to this question really depends on which branch of Baptist church is referred to, and what doctrines are followed by the so-called "Bible church." According to the 8th edition of the Handbook of Denominations in the United States (Frank S. Mead, rev. Samuel S. Hill, 1985, Abingdon Press), there are three denominations or fellowships with the word "Bible" in their names: The Bible Fellowship Church, the Bible Protestant church, and the Bible Way Church, Worldwide. All three of these tend to be localized, with few congregations. Many other sects of various denominations, including Baptist, have the word "Bible" in their names. More often than not, though, a so-called "Bible church" is a non-denominational or independent congregation that has chosen its name to indicate that it is true to the Bible, perhaps to the exclusion of some, many, or all other denominations. Some of these emphasize the Bible to de-emphasize denominational doctrine or traditions that, according to the leaders of these churches, takes away from the Bible.
