Compare the hunting strength and size of the grizzly bear, kodiak bear, and the polar bear.
Polar bears often hunt 4000 pounded bull walruses on land and kill them without much trouble. Researchers said that polar bears have the strength to drag a 4 ton beluga out of water for about 5 meters onto ice. A big adult male polar bear can weigh 1600 pounds when it is fully-grown. Polar bears have bigger and sharpest claws than all the other bears. They have claws reach up from 6 to 8 inches.
Grizzly bears and kodiak bears are 75 percent vegetation eaters although they do hunt animals smaller than polar bears hunt. They hunt the moose that weigh up to 1300 pounds at most. These bears usually prey on salmon and trouts. Even big kodiak bears or grizzly bears have difficulties in killing in a 1500 pounded adult bison. It would take a very long time for them to kill and feed on a young bison, according to many researches. Their claws are only up to 5.5 inches long. Grizzly bears and smaller brown bear species weigh up to 1200 pounds for males depending on their size. The kodiak bear, which is slightly heavier than a polar bear by 50 to 100 pounds, is still not a match for a polar bear.
If the kodiak bear or a very large grizzly bear had a fight with a polar bear, the polar bear would win 7 out of 10 times in most fights and combats. As a result, the polar bear is the king of the bears, and in fact, the largest and strongest predator in the world!

A predator is the one that is hunting and the prey is the one being hunted.
When you are deer hunting you usually use a 20 gage or a 12 gage and with squirrel you usually use a 22 gage........ and yes the size of the target!!
Poaching is illegal hunting. The difference? One is illegal, one isn't. Generally it would be illegal, because the animal is endangered, or you are hunting on private property.
The difference between hunting deer and hunting elephants is overall 1) elephants are poached more and there are fewer of them 2) elephants are a keystone species and thus are more important to their own ecosystem then deer; meaning that if their population decreases it will create a greater impact than a decrease in deer population. There are also other reason like for instance they are two different species, but basically that's it.
They are not in danger. Still plenty around. In fact, there are so many there is a hunting season each year.
