i don't think they build ships out of concrete, because there weight is to great to there surface area, wood is the best for a ship but weak compared to some steel ships, but in the sea all ships are vunerable.

Where were the US ships made in World War 1?

Concrete ships are ships built of steel and ferrocement (reinforced concrete) instead of more traditional materials, such as steel or wood. The advantage of ferrocement construction is that materials are cheap and readily available, while the disadvantages are that construction labor costs are high, as are operating costs. (Ferrocement ships require thick hulls, which means extra mass to push and less space for cargo.) During the late 19th century, there were concrete river barges in Europe, and during both World War I and World War II, steel shortages lead the US military to order the construction of small fleets of ocean-going concrete ships, the largest of which was the SS Selma. Few concrete ships were completed in time to see wartime service during World War I, but during 1944 and 1945, concrete ships and barges were used to support U.S. and British invasions in Europe and the Pacific. Since the late 1930s, there have also been ferrocement pleasure boats.

Can you pour concrete to steel bars painted with red oxide primer?

No, it is not recommended to pour concrete directly onto steel bars painted with red oxide primer. The primer may prevent proper adhesion between the concrete and the steel, leading to a weaker bond and potential structural issues. It is important to remove any paint or primer from the steel bars before pouring concrete to ensure a strong and durable connection between the two materials.

Why concrete bridges have steel rods inside them?

The steel rods are there to strengthen the concrete - making it reinforced concrete.

What is the difference between structural steel and reinforcement steel?

structual steel is the widw flange column's and beam's as well as plate steel angle iron ect.. it falls under aws D1.1 welding code. reinforcement steel/reinforcing steel is the rebar, dba,(deformed bar anchor), hsa, (headed stud anchor) that is placed in concrete, floors, walls, footings, ect... it falls under aws D1.4 welding code

What is more fire resistant steel or concrete?

Concrete is much more fire resistant. This is shown by the design of reinforced concrete structure where the steel is placed within the concrete. A major reason is that the concrete protects the steel from any fire. Steel only construction requires the steel to be covered in a fire protection material.

What is the minimum and maximum allowable percentage of reinforcement steel in concrete?

The amount of steel required in concrete as reinforcement is measured using a formula that calculates the amount of pressure that will be put on the concrete. There are different formulas to identify the minimum and the maximum amount of needed steel, depending on if you are making a beam, slab, or column.
