Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put a tomato in a fruit salad.

Knowledge is knowing facts, whereas wisdom is more to do with knowing what to do in a certain situation, using experiences learned earlier on in life.

Take the four geeky male students in TV series -The Big Bang Theory. Here is an example of four very knowledgeable people - ask them any question, particularly science based, and they would know the answer. But given a life situation and they all panic and fall apart a little bit, failing to make the right decision due to lack of wisdom and common sense.

You can become very knowledgeable by learning through media about a given subject, but being able to make life decisions cant really be learned without `doing`, maybe failing and using that experience to do better next time.
