These are both large countries, but they share a border, so you can step from one to the other. about 3775 km | 2346 miles
It's northernmost point is really, really close to the equatorial line.
It's southern latitude is in fact just 0º02´00".
Different parts of Brazil range from zero to about 2,260 miles from the equator.
The reason for the 'zero' is the fact that the equator crosses Brazil.
Brazil is on the equator.
Croatia lies on 45 parallel, which means it's exactly half way from Equator to North pole. It's 5000km away from the North pole and 5000km away from the equator. A small town called Senj, Croatia cuts this line and has a monument and a roadsign to North pole and Equator.
Brazil is a very large country and even though most of the country is to the south of the equator, the equator does cut through to country.yes, there are some Brazilian states that are on the equator.
The Equator crosses substantial parts of South America and Africa. There must be hundreds of villages actually on the Equator. Countries through which the equator passes are Brazil, Colombia, Congo-Brazzaville, Congo-Kinshasa, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Gabon, Indonesia, Kenya, and Uganda. The equator also passes through the island nation of Sao Tome and Principe in the Atlantic Ocean, and in the Pacific Ocean it passes through the Federated States of Micronesia, Maldives and Kiribati without touching land.
West Virginia is north of the equator, so from West Virginia you would travel south. It is a long way south of, as it crosses through South America.
The capital city of Uganda, Kampala lies only 0.05 degrees north of the equator, which is only 5km or so. Macapa in Brazil is even closer, only 0.03 degrees north of the equator.
Geographically the USA lies on the North American continent, while Brazil lies on the South American continent. Yes, Brazil is far away from the USA.

Because if you are on the equator the heat you are getting from the sun is concentrated, whereas if you are further away from the equator the suns rays have to cover more area therefor there is in a way, less for you. E.g Kenya is on the equator so it is warmer than lets say Greenland, which is far away.
Because Antarctica is way over the bottom of the earth far away from the equator. and because Antarctica is surrounded by the southern ocean
Bogotá is the nearest to Equator. São Paulo is right on the Tropic of Capricorn, way South.
No on average it is the other way around.
Since the Earth is spherical (shaped like a ball), you can go either way. -- If you go south from the center of Dallas, the equator is about 2,263 miles away. -- If you go north from the center of Dallas, the equator is about 22,590 miles away ... almost exactly ten times as far as the other way. That's why just about everybody who sets out on such a trip heads south.
I'm going to make this extremely simple. Africa is smack Dab on the Equator. Russia is way far from it. More sun reaches the equator making it hotter there. Less sun reaches the poles of the earth, it gets colder and colder the father away from the equator you go.
