hey! you gotta know your history well! Let me tell what Africa has contributed to the history of the world. Primarily the first humans originated in Africa, then spread to other parts of the globe gradually, thus Africa is the cradle of humankind. Secondarily the first civilizations even older than that of Egypt, originated in Africa such as nubian-cush and the much older recently discovered zingh empire of north and west Africa before the Sahara was fully dried-up or desertified, the European colonists who much later came to Africa discovered many things among the africans, but didn't want to recognise because they were there to mistreat and degrade anything that was non-European. Even the origin of mathematics is now being traced back to Africa, tropical Africa, in 1950 a belgian researcher named jean de heinzelin De Braucourt discovered a peculiar bone on the Ishango site 15km from the equator on the shore of king edward's river, 10 cm long peculiar bone with a high-level scientifically dating from 20000BC. the bone reveals a mastered arithmetics series, also used to count lunar phases and this is well before the egypto-nubian civilization! There were other great civilizations in Africa, the Great Zimbabwe, Songhai, etc... Central Africa has also greatly contributed to the world in terms of arts, music, everybody knows about African music supremacy. The ancient Greeks who brought civilization to Europe, spoke well of Africa, because they borrowed a lot of their civilization from Egypt. By the way Egypt means "black soil", so does Sudan etc... The desertification of the Sahara has hidden a lot of the African glory. the so-called civilized europeans brought to Africa misery, slavery, political strifes and divisions which did not exist in Africa. Africans had their own cultures,religions,kingdoms,empires,tribes organized in their own way, all this was destroyed by the evils of slavery and colonization which tore people from their roots. despite the turmoil africans wherever they were at, continued to contribute to the world in culture, arts and most of all music which is part of a man soul. Though they were forced and discouraged to progress in many other fields. Even in Roman days, some great Roman soldiers and generals were black, saint Augustus of hippo was black, as well as Simon of cyraene who helped the Christ carry the cross to the place of the skull(GOLGOTHA) was black or quite dark-skinned. The great Nubian pharaoh known as Taharqua was black as midnight, invaded parts of the middle-east well. Many of the pharaohs were quite black too. Moses, Solomon of The Bible days had black wives. Did you know the ancient empires of Zingh,Egypt had a technology quite different from ours but well advanced in sciences such as astronomy. So if you wanna know what Africa has contributed to the world history, search! In America, Africans or blacks what you call them there, have been seen as inferior, because of that evil history of slavery, that created a powerful stereotype. Africans were not always slaves,others were kings or just simple folks. Actually for the ignorant ones, the Kingdom of Portugal in the 15th century had a perfect diplomatic ties with a central African kingdom called the Kongo, the Kongo noble children went to portuguese royal court often even learn to speak portuguese. I, myself am a descendant of an African royal line on my paternal side, but was disrupted by evil colonization. Even democracy existed in Africa as well, in my tribe, the luba, people were ruled by a council of elders representing various clans rather than by a king who acted as a judge. So Africa did contribute greatly to history of the world. I hope this answer will enlighten many people who have no clue about Africa except for the pictures of warn torn areas with starving chilren!
