Approximately 8-9 hours going "counterclockwise" through Morelia, Uruapan, and down from there. It's 90% autopista (highway) and 10% carretera (two lane road, slow speed). Or, you can go "clockwise" through Cuernavaca, to Acapulco, then up Hwy 200. That way will vary, but is around 8 hours, maybe 9. It is about 3.5 to 4 hours on an autopista/highway to Acapulco, then you have to cross the city of Acapulco (urban driving) and then up a two-lane, poorly maintained road with speed bumps for 4-5 hours or so at slow speeds. Much less desireable. I've done both recently, and recommend the first one.
