- When you haven't talked to someone in awhile and you meet up with them start the conversation by asking them what they have been up too since the last time you saw them and then listen to what they have to say and then tell them what you've been doing with your life since then. After discussing this the rest of the conversation should go fairly well.

It all depends. If i am talking to a friend, just making small talk, i will text them throughout the day. If it is someone that i have not talked to in a while, or am making plans with someone, then phone calls would be ideal.
