Mass has no effect on torque. Torque is the product of distance (from the axis), force, and an angular function. Mass can, however, make the turbine more stable - it will take longer to react to variations in wind. More mass will increase the MOMENT OF INERTIA (rotational inertia).

because all gas turbine has three stage buckets

How does steam turbine works?

Steam or water, it works the reverse of a fan, where the fan pushes air down, the turbine is turned by the steam or water. there's a shaft leading from the turbine to the generator, which produces the electricity

How much does it cost to maintain a wind turbine?

The cost to maintain a wind turbine is estimated to be about 2% of the original investment per year. The cost of a wind turbine is $50,000.

How much does a small steam turbine cost?

That would depend on the type and size of turbine.

What does nuclear moderation accomplish in a nuclear reactor?

Moderation slows or reduces the energy of neutrons in a nuclear reactor. By doing this, moderation allows continuation of the chain reaction. Neutrons will only cause more fission events when they have a specific range of energy, but they have too much energy when they are first emitted from their precipitating event, hence the need for moderation. Moderation also regulates the reaction. In the light water moderated reactor, for instance, a common design, water is the moderator. Water is also the heat sink, carrying away the energy of the reaction to make steam which spins turbines and makes electricity. If reactivity were to increase, temperature would also increase, causing an increase in the number of voids in the water. This reduces the effectiveness of the moderator and tends to decrease reactivity. Similarly, if reactivity were to decrease, temperature would decrease, causing voids to decrease, ultimately causing reactivity to increase. Conversely, if the load changes, that will reflect back into the water temperature, causing reactivity to adjust accordingly. It is a self-stabilizing situation. It is also a safety designed system. If there were a sudden loss of heat sink, such as a turbine load rejection, temperature would go up, causing a decrease in reactivity. If there were a steam line break, causing a depressurization incident, the water would flash to steam and the reactor would go instantly subcritical. In both of these scenarios, there would be time to insert the control rods, forcing the reactor further subcritical, and giving the emergency core cooling systems time to startup.

Why velocity of flow will decrease with increase in peripheral speed of francis turbine?

the peripheral velocity of the turbine is the around velocity. the increase in the velocity of the peripheral will decrease the velocity of the flow towards the turbine

How do you increase a Thermal efficiency of brayton cycle?

by increasing the turbine inlet gas temperature

How inefficiencies of compressor and turbine affect back work ratio and efficiency of gas turbine?

Inefficiencies in the compressor of a gas turbine cycle increase the back-work ratio and decrease the thermal efficiency of the gas turbine cycle, since they increase the compressor work.

In a wind turbine - does increasing the blade length or decreasing the blade length increases the speed of the turbine?

Decreasing the blade length will increase the rotation speed, and thus the turbine speed ( for constant wind speed ).

How you increase load electrically in Gas turbine plants?

By increasing the flow rate of the natural gas being used as the fuel.

Why the vacuum is maintained in condenser?

For increasing steam turbine efficiency. if vacuum is not maintained then, uncondensable gases and air in condenser will increase the condenser pressure.

How do jet engines accelerate mid air?

By increasing the firing in the Turbine.

What is controlled and uncontrolled extraction in double extraction steam turbine?

The extraction of steam can either be controlled or uncontrolled. In an uncontrolled extraction the pressure of the extracted steam will decrease with an increase in extraction flow from the turbine. In a controlled extraction the extraction pressure is kept constant as extraction flow is increased or decreased.

What is purpose to spray in exhaust hood of steam turbine?

The purpose of exhaust hood spray is to decrease the temperature of steam turbine last stage that is probably LP. This is operate on low load specially at start up and shut down of steam turbine when the temperature at the outer most edge of the turbine blades of that stage is very high and As we know that the steam flow also decrease The temperature of turbine blade.
