The highest point of the South Mountain area is near Berwick Nova Scotia at 260 meters at
a point between Lake George and Loon lake South of Berwick on the Aylesford Road.
Two low mountain ranges in Nova Scotia are the South Mountain Range and the North Mountain Range. The South Mountain Range runs parallel to the Bay of Fundy in western Nova Scotia, while the North Mountain Range is located along the northern shore of the Annapolis Valley. These mountain ranges are relatively low in elevation compared to other ranges, with the highest peaks reaching around 400-500 meters.

North Mountain and South Mountain make up the walls of the Annapolis Valley which stretches from just north of Digby to almost Windsor.
