Becoming a vet requires 4 years of college, followed by 4 years of vet school. Vet schools require previous experience, so it is important to shadow or work for vets in high school and college. There are different fields of veterinary medicine that you can go into: large animal (livestock), equine (horses), small animals, exotics, or some combination of the above.
