An ordinary cell phone has cell batteries (of course). Chemical energy is stored in the batteries and is converted into electrical energy when needed by the phone. This energy is converted into radio waves, or electromagnetic energywhen we speak and travels to other phones. It can also be converted into light energy for display and like almost all electrical energy conversions gives out thermal (heat) energy as waste.

electrical energy -------> electromagnetic energy+light energy+heat energy
