The environment is somewhat like a Filipino town, even to the extent of there being little canteens, places to get haircut, shuffleboard and Basketball. As an outsider, you feel safe inside and no one bothers you. Often you will see wives and children inside who are visiting their husbands. Not to say it is like a resort, because it still is a national prison full of thousands of men and although the area is large, often the cells are quite crowded. Overall, the place is managed well and inmates are treated like human beings, and they, int turn act like human beings, a very big difference from what the prison was like in the 1970's.
