Epigraphs are basically meant to set up the important eliments of the story. Im not sure you are asking the question correctly. The epigraph in the Invisible Man cosists of two quotations, one from Herman Meliville, and the other from T.S. Elliot.

The epigraph of "Invisible Man" by Ralph Ellison is a quote by American poet and jazz musician Louis Armstrong: "What you lookin' at me for? I didn't come to stay...I got a home." This quote sets the tone for the themes of invisibility, identity, and belonging that are explored throughout the novel.
