The equal-time rule specifies that U.S. radio and television broadcast stations must provide an equivalent opportunity to any opposing political candidates who request it. This means, for example, that if a station gives one free minute to a candidate on the prime time, it must do the same for another candidate.
I believe that equal time provision is the same thing as the equal time rule which states that all broadcast stations must sell equal amounts of air time to all political candidates if the station decides to sell any. It makes it so one candidate is not being shown favoritism
The equal time world is a reference to the amount of television time given to political candidates. The political parties are supposed to be offered equal television time.
equal opportunity rule
The equal-time doctrine specifies that U.S. radio and television broadcast stations must provide equivalent time for all political parties who request it. The equal-time rule was created because the FCC thought the stations could easily manipulate the outcome of elections by presenting just one point of view.
