While the drug dealer is a criminal, he is also a citizen reporting a crime. The officer to whom this crime is reported should treat it exactly the same as any other crime report. The fact that the thief is allegedly a police colleague should make no difference. The proper investigation of the alleged theft will either exonerate the officer or come up with evidence that may lead to a prosecution.

For the police officer NOT to act properly on the report would mean that the police officer to whom the crime was reported was breaking the law.
