Best Answer

The blind spot or optic disc is the specific region of the retina where the optic nerve and blood vessels pass through to connect to the back of the eye. It is a blind spot because there are no rods or cones there.

The blindspot in your eye is that point in the back of your eyeball where the nerves come together and pass through into your skull and further into your brain. This particular spot does not have the rods and staves needed to pick up light and translate it into signals your brain can perceive.

Exactly why the eyeball is this way is unknown, but it does lead to fascinating tricks used by your brain in order to erase and tune the images you see. In the case of the blindspot, it takes data from when you change or move your focus and 'overlays' it on the spot where you're actually not capable of seeing anything.
