The face value of any coin is simply its denomination, so the face value of a half dollar is 50 cents regardless of when it was made or what metal it contains.
The metal (or melt) value of a coin is the value it will bring if melted down. 1968 halves were made of 40% debased silver so they do carry a premium as scrap.
The collector value of a coin is what it's worth to a dealer or collector. That can be much higher if the coin is rare or in especially pristine condition.
