Noble gases (or group 18 elements)
Group 18 on the Periodic Table contains the Inert Gases. Inert Gases tend to be unreactive. This group has the elements Helium, Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon, and Radon.
The grup 8 elemnts are quite unreactive- the term noble was I think coined for gold and other unreactive metals- and the adjective got re-used- they were once called the inert gases- but this is no longer true as unstable reactive compounds have been made for Argon and the heavier members of the group.
The elements in group 17 are known by the name halogens. They are non-metal elements and are at times referred to as salts.
Potassium is in group 1 and the group elements are hydrogen, lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, francium

Group 8A, also known as group 18, are very non-reactive. However, they are all gases, not transition metals. Transition metals are the large family of elements in the middle of the table in between groups 2 and 13 (2A and 3A). Group 8A are the noble gases.
These elements are francium and lithium.
