Cactaceae is the family of which all cactuses are members. The family is divided into four subfamilies. So cactuses may be further members of the Cactoideae, Maihuenioideae, Opuntioideae and Peraskioideae subfamilies. They then may be classified even further into a specific genus and species within each subfamily.
