He appears to have spent all of his time on scientific and philosophical studies, teaching, and writing- some 60 works have been listed. Of his voluminous writings, only a few fragments of his ethical theory remain. But these fragments and the descriptions by other writers of his atomic theory put him among the foremost thinkers of his time.
Democritus was an original thinker in ethical theory, setting high standards of personal integrity and social responsibility, without invoking supernatural sanctions.

Ethics
Democritus had a thought experiment. The idea was if you took a material and divided it half, you would have a smaller but identical chunk. If you keep dividing your material, there should eventually be a point where you've reached the smallest representative element of your material. That element is the"atom".
He was best known for his atomic theory, even though he did produce a number of works dealing with areas such as Physics, astronomy, Biology, ethics, mathematics and grammar.

Democritus was a GREEK philosopher so if u absolutely have NO brains. Democritus was born in ABDERA, GREECE.
This was an intuition of Leukippus and Democritus.
It is true that Democritus produced an atomic theory of matter (not in as much detail as later scientists) and it is true that his work was eclipsed by the later theory of Aristotle who classified matter in terms of four elements found on Earth (air, fire, water, and earth) and one in the heavens (the quintessence) which eventually turned out to be a much less accurate theory than that of Democritus. I would not say, however, that no one believed Democritus; he was (and remains) a respected philosopher.

Yes, Democritus was a student of Leucippus. Leucippus was a pre-Socratic philosopher who is often credited as the founder of atomism, and Democritus was his most famous student. Together, they developed the theory that all matter is made up of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms.
