There simply is no fast way to get rid of acne scars, though there are a variety of treatments available for acne scarring. Here are some:
- Laser skin resurfacing
- Dermabrasion
- Subscision
- Chemical peels
- Skin needling
Professionally, these treatments are very costly. However, I spent a few months doing research into beating depressed acne scars in the face and started treating my scars 6 weeks ago. This is what I did:
- Two high strength collagen tablets just before you go to bed every night (you can find this on Amazon or Chemist Direct or any good health food shop). If you're allergic to seafood this is not a good idea.
- Skin Doctors Gamma Hydroxy SKin Resurfacing Cream - apply this every night to the affected skin (again, found on Amazon)
- Any good quality collagen cream, which you rub on in the morning.
- Quit smoking, so the skin can heal itself properly. Limit alcohol, as it causes inflammation of the skin. Eat a healthy diet of plenty fruit, veg, fish, lean meat. Cut out processed food and research for anti-inflammatory, healing diet guidance. Protein is essential for tissue repair. Take a vitamin E supplement or use vitamin E cream on skin.
- Adopt a good simple Skin Care regime - cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day with products aimed at combatting and preventing further acne flare ups. Exfoliate with Neutrogena Wave machine once a day.
- Buy a 0.5mm Dermaroller. It is a home skin needling procedure and is done without the need of professionals. I do it every other day, with numbing cream, which is cheap. Very quick and simple.
This all seems like quite a lot, but six weeks on, I have seen already a ten percent reduction in depressed scars on my face. The Dermaroller is the best thing I've ever invested in and does not cost too much. I have followed the above steps and believe me, it is worth the hard work.
