An example of a file would be 'example.docx', which is a file name with an extension for Microsoft Wordtm 2007-2010 on both the Mac and PC.
A file name is what a file is called. A file extension defines what type of file it is. (Text file, HTML file, executable, etc.)
if it's a new PowerPoint version, it has a file name of .pptx, but in general, it's called a PowerPoint.
Go to File--> Save as... when the Save As dialog opens - 1. choose a folder 2. write the file name 3. in the 'Save as Type' list - choose 'Power Point Show - PPS' (in PowerPoint 2010/2007 it is called 'Power Point Show - PPSX')
The main project file has a VBPROJ extension. This is also a file with the same name as the main project file, but with an SLN extension. The SLN extension is a solution file.
