2.5 Liter 4 cylinder is 1-3-4-2 4.3 Liter V6 is 1-6-5-4-3-2
The firing order for a 1987 4.3L Chevy Astro Van is 1-6-5-4-3-2. The cylinder numbering starts from the front of the engine, with cylinder 1 on the driver's side. Make sure to follow the correct firing order when setting the ignition timing or replacing spark plugs to ensure proper engine operation.

Hi I Own a 1987 Z24 with the same engine your asking about. I also have the GM service repair manual. The firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. I hope that helps?!
Remove the water supply hose from your 1987 Chevy Astro thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Remove the old thermostat and drive in the new thermostat.
