If your federal income tax return was completed correctly and transmitted electronically online to the IRS and was accepted between January 15 and January 21, and you have received your acknowledgment from the IRS that your tax return has been accepted by the IRS as filed, you may receive a direct deposit to your checking or savings account as early as January 29. The IRS will begin mailing paper checks around February 5.
Although these dates apply specifically to 2010, they may be used as a general guide for future tax years, unless the dates are changed by legislation.
