One day Darren is given a flyer by a man who is in the shadows. It is a freak show flyer and him and steve go. Darren is excited by the spider proformance and later on the Darren finds out that the man proforming that act is a vampire. His friend demands to be turned. The vampire agrees to taste his blood and says its foul. After awhile Darren steals the spider and leaves an 'Don't come looking' note. He trains the spider and later gives a show to his friend. The spider, which is posonous, bites steve an in a rage Darren throws the spider out the window. The vampire catches the spider. Steve is put into hospital and is not believed to live. Darren, makes a deal to save his friend, bcomes a half vampire. When his friend is saved he facks his death with the vampire, Mr Crepsley. After he is dug up his friend somes and says he will come for Darren in the future. Darren and Mr Crepsley walk of together. That is a sum up of the first book and first manga. Hope that helps
