Colorado doesn't have one. Pretty much every state has a state animal and state flower, but when you get into things like snacks, it's not so widespread... I know New York has one (yogurt), Texas has one (chips and salsa)... Colorado does not.
The legislative urge was to choose a native flower that no other state had selected. It is attractive, but not as prevalent as the Indian Paintbrush and other contenders, it was selected and the state has gone through great effort to feature it at state entry points.
We have two songs here in Colorado. Our first song is "Where the Columbine Grows" (because the Columbine is our state flower) and second not to many years ago we added John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" as another one of our state songs.
