You can go to http://www.fueleconomy.gov and send them an e-mail to request the specific information. I have a PDF excerpt from the 1976 California fuel mileage book for Torinos (which the Ranchero was based on from 1972-1976) and here are the numbers I do have:
1976 Torino and 1976 Torino wagon
351 V8 - auto - 2bbl - 12 city - 17 highway - 14 city/hwy
400 V8 - auto - 2bbl - 11 city - 16 highway - 13 city/hwy
460 V8 - auto - 4bbl - 11 city - 15 highway - 12 city/hwy
These numbers are accurate for my 351-equipped '76 Gran Torino sedan.
If your vehicle is older than 1973 or so, the EPA may not have fuel economy information for it. If your vehicle is not stock, the only way to test fuel economy is to create your own test. Many folks over at gassavers.org choose a test route with mixed driving and repeat that route for 5 days, filling the tank before AND after each run, calculating their mileage. This is how I confirmed that my car does get 12mpg in short 10-mile city trips, 14mpg in mixed driving, and 17mpg in straight highway driving at 55mph.
