In recent years, Johnson outboards have affixed decals to the engine stating use of a 100:1 ratio. My customers who have followed this recommendation, have received good service from their engines. That being said, personally I tend to be rather old school in my practices, and adhere to that which has yielded good results over a span of years. The 50:1 ratio is still my choice for a 2 stroke outboard, though, on models where 100:1 is so specified, the leaner mixture may certainly be used.
