That's the inertia switch for the electric fuel pump , if the Ford Explorer
receives a substantial jolt like being in an accident or maybe hitting a bad
pothole , then the switch might trip opening the circuit to the electric fuel
pump so no power flows to the fuel pump
i have a 2000 xls and the reset is above the speedometer
could be a bad wire in your engine harness
