The ancient Ibo religion held that the sun god, Chukwu created the world. Today, most Ibos are Christian, and a small number, perhaps 30,000, have adopted Judaism.In 1999, a member of an Ibo Christian congregation travelled to Israel and came back claiming that the Ibos were Jews. He convinced the whole congregation to embrace Judaism. During that war, they received Israeli military aid, adding to speculation of secret ties between the Ibos and the Hebrews.
