I believe you mean the "fall" from being a hero. In other words, in literature, it is a common literary device to focus on how the hero, due to what is called a "tragic flaw," loses his status and is no longer considered a hero. In some cases, the hero falls due to arrogance or greed or failure to control his ambition.

Of course, not all heroes fall. Some recover their status and return to greatness. Others are tested and pass the test. If you want to read about fallen heroes, there are many examples in Greek mythology, and also in the plays of Shakespeare, where you will find a number of men who were considered heroes but then let their faults ruin their life and take away everything they had.
