A cell membrane... sounds geeky but I just had science lessons about this. It is thin, and it's very flexible. It controls what goes in and what goes out. Could be something else though...

A cell membrane. Found in both animal cells and plant cells. A cell membrane allows material in and out of the cell. It is a thin outer covering of the cell.
