There is no such thing as blood marrow. You presumably mean bone marrow. A major function of bone marrow is the generation of new blood cells.
Bone marrow makes blood cells and lymphocytes.
Leukemia can be a bone marrow or blood cancer. Bone marrow makes white blood cells, and if it did not function properly, it would cause the red blood cells to increase, decrease, or not function. Replacing bone marrow means that the new marrow would take over the job of making red blood cells and fix the problem.

Bone marrow does a lot of things but the major function is the production of RBS. (red blood cells)
To produce a variety of blood cells
Bone marrow, a soft tissue dwelling in cavities in the middle of bones, can be divided into two categories: red marrow and yellow marrow. Yellow marrow is made up of blood vessels, nerve cells, and fat cells, while red marrow produces red blood cells as well as special white blood cells (lymphocytes), and other elements of the blood such as platelets.
To produce a variety of blood cells
Red marrow is found in spongy bone, and makes blood. Yellow marrow is found in the medullary cavity and stores fat.
The inside of a bone is called bone marrow. It is a soft, spongy tissue that produces blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. There are two types of bone marrow: red marrow, which is involved in blood cell production, and yellow marrow, which primarily stores fat. Bone marrow is crucial for maintaining healthy blood and immune function.
