Unlike a current day S&W or Colt, the cylinder does not swing out to load. By flipping the loading gate open, you can load cartridges into the cylinder one at a time. When closed, it keeps the cartridges from falling out.
Always depends on condition! First ones made had round barrels(1887), later ones had flats. Some had a loading gate, most did not. The loading gate model cost extra. I've paid anywhere from $50 for one in fair condition to $250 for one in excellent condition still in the box.
The world record time for changing cylinders with a loading gate revolver is around 2.2 seconds. This feat requires skill, practice, and precision to accomplish quickly and safely. Competitions and demonstrations often showcase the speed and expertise of shooters performing cylinder changes.
There is no lever under the loading gate. There is an ejection rod alongside the barrel.
$100-$150.

And gate is similar to the function of two series switches
value depends on overall condition.................
When the two input terminals of a NAND gate are short circuited, it acts as a NOT gate.

Sounds like the loading gate is loose! Make sure the screw that holds the loading gate in place is snug.
