The combustion chamber has an exhaust valve and an intake valve. The power stroke is ignited just before TDC, in timing with the spark plug to ignite the fuel/air mixture. Hence, this forces the piston down with both valves closed. NOTE:Intake stroke (valve open to receive the f/a mixture), Compression stroke, both valves closed, Power stoke (see above), Exhaust stroke (piston upwards, with only exhaust valve open.

What engine has the cumbustion chamber mechined into the piston crown?

The engine with a combustion chamber machined into the piston crown is known as the "Hemi" engine, specifically referring to the hemispherical combustion chamber design. This design allows for better airflow and more efficient combustion, increasing power output and performance. It is commonly associated with certain models from manufacturers like Chrysler. Additionally, some modern high-performance engines also utilize similar designs for improved efficiency and power.

What is an internal-combustion engine?

An internal combustion engine is an engine that uses air, fuel, and spark to create the power to move. A perfect air-fuel mixture is pulled into the cumbustion chamber, its compressed by the piston, and once its compressed the spark plug ignites the air-fuel mixture and the process is completed.
