Interphase
is where the cell is when it is preparing for cell division. Therefore the purpose of interphase
is to prepare the cell for division. During interphase,
the cell goes through three stages; the G1, S Phase and G2. This is the longest part of the cycle.
Interphase primarily serves to ready the cell for mitosis. Also, interphase can help to keep bad cells, or dangerous ones, from going through cell reproduction. This is achieved through a serious of "checkpoints" that usually stop unhealthy cells, like cancerous ones.
Because it allows the cell to grow and develop into a mature cell before it is able to reproduce.
The function of interphase is to act as the in-between stage of mitosis. In this stage, cells grow and function like usual so that they are prepared to go through cell division.
During the interphase stage, the cells prepares for cell division.
