gas exchanging
The alveoli are the final and smallest part of the respiratory system. They hold the oxygen until the blood can come by and swap CO2 for oxygen. Capillaries are inside the alveoli, which allows the exchange with the blood. Alveoli are connected to bronchioloes, which are attached to bronchi, etc.
The function of the lungs is to Oxygenate the blood so as to ensure constant and effective supply of oxygen to the whole body. The deoxygenated blood from the right side of the Heart is carried to the Lungs. At the level of the Alveoli's, the air exchange takes place where carbon dioxide is excreted and oxygen taken up. This blood is then carried to the left side of the Heart and pumped to the whole body via the Aorta !

The bronchi are the tubes that actually carry the air to the lungs, they have a different function than the alveoli which function in the process for gas exchange.
Lungs
emphysema
the lungs. in the lungs there is are cool little things called bronchioles and in these bronchioles there are many hundreds of smaller things called alveoli.
Alveoli are found within the lungs. The alveoli act as a specialised gaseous exchange surface in mammals. Another function of alveoli is the production of surfactant.
a pulmonary artieriole is part of the respiratory system. inside the respiratory system is an organ called alveoli and the alveoli are covered in a network of capillary. the job of the pulmonary arteriole is to carry deoxygenated blood into the capillary network.
millons of alveoli are in the lungs
The respiratory system. The alveoli are air sacs in the lungs.
By diffusion across q capillary wall
Our lungs come in contact with ozone, lead, and other contaminants. This damages the alveoli and impairs lung function.
