The function of lubrication is to deliver clean oil at the correct temperature & pressure to every parts of the engine. To be effective, an engine lubrication System must successfully perform the function of minimizing friction between bearing surfaces of moving parts, dissipating heat & keeping the engine parts clean by removing carbon & other foreign material.

What is the function of bypass filter in the lubrication system of engines that have this equipment?

It allows the oil to bypass the filter completely if the filter becomes clogged.

Lubrication and cooling.

What is the function of the lubrication system?

To provide a film of lubrication between metal moving parts.

What is the function of a bearing in a combustion engine?

The function of the bearing in a combustion engine is to offer lubrication.

Why do you use oil for your engines?

Because engines are made from metal, all the moving parts require lubrication otherwise damage occurs and they sieze up.

Can all engines run on pure ethanol?

no because there i no lubrication in it and the engine would seize after a little while

Why you add oil into petrol?

Oil may be added to petrol for two cycle engines to provide lubrication.

What is the function and operation of oil filters-screens in turbine engines?

Because they spin at such high speeds, turbine engines are very sensitive to oil-system contaminants. Even something as small as a piece of grit can cause problems if it gets into the wrong part of the lubrication system. Turbine engines are therefore equipped with very sophisticated and redundant oil filtration systems to ensure the reliability of the engine.

What is the difference between splash lubrication and pressurized lubrication?

Splash lubrication like in small engines uses a dipper connected to the crank that " dips " into the oil on the down stroke and " splashes " it up and onto the engine parts on the upstroke. Pressurized lubrication uses a pump to push the oil through passages to the needed areas.

What did people use before oil?

Before oil there was not need for lubrication as there were no engines or other mechanical devices to lubricate.
