In biochemistry, we use the word translation to identify the process that occurs when the DNA code for a protein is used to create the protein. The genetic code on theDNA is first transferred to messenger RNA. Ribosomes link amino acids together in the order specified by messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules. The Ribosome is then said to translate this into the amino acid sequence which is the final protein.

A person decides that a book in one language is worth translating into another language. Since you asked your question in English, you might be familiar with some books originally in other languages. The Bible came to us from Hebrew and Greek. It was translated into English from those two languages. Today a group of people, the Wycliffe Translators, are trying to translate the Bible into all languages. The story of Cinderella was translated from French. Don Quixote was translated from Spanish. Salesmen need to sell products in foreign countries where foreign languages are spoken. They learn foreign languages. You may see brochures that have instructions with translations into several languages. That way people in different countries can use the same product and have the instructions in their own language.
