The general guidance for initial accident investigation would be: 1: Record and document the position of the aircraft and all parts and evidence of its path. 2: Record position of flight controls and instruments. 3: Interview as many witnesses as possible. 4: Do not jump to a conclusion before all initial investigation and interviews are compeleted. This is difficult to do while trying to brainstorm on the possible causes. Also, don't let the statement of one witness influence your investigation. 5: Quarantine parts that may be needed for further investigation, either meturligacal examination or testing of system components to validate they were operating normally.
