gifts are appropriate to exchange between fiends at different times. Gifts are also given on parties, occasions and wedding. it would be so generous to give a gift on first home invitation.

the gifts are usually some chocolate or cake but it could be some affordable valuable gifts. a dinner or lunch invitation could also be a kind of gifts.

but remember not to give wine or pork because it is forbidden in Islam also not to give a man gold or silk to wear.

Saudis will appreciate it and they will thank you . maybe they will give you a gift in other occasion as a thanks also or just as a gift .they have different opinions about opening it in front of others . some of them prefer to do so and some of them prefer to open it later.
