To stop Snape(actually Quirrell) from getting the stone and making elixir for bringing Voldemort back to life
the philosopher's stone (Latin: lapis philosophorum; Greek: chrysopoeia) is a legendary substance, supposedly capable of turning inexpensive metals into gold; it was also sometimes believed to be an elixir of life, useful for rejuvenation and possibly for achieving immortality. For a long time, it was the most sought-after goal in Western alchemy. In the view of spiritual alchemy, making the philosopher's stone would bring enlightenment upon the maker and conclude the Great Work.[1]Yes there is a philosophers stone, it is carried in the platypuses pouch! by Natalie.O There is no philosophers stone in a platypuse pouch, what also supports my state is that you didnt spell philosopher right. the philosophers stone is from HARRY POTTER and the PHILOSOPHERS STONE
Harry's main goal in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone is to stop Lord Voldemort from getting the philosopher's (sorcerer's) stone and returning to power. With the help of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, he manages to achieve this goal. The three get past Fluffy and go down the trapdoor where they work together to beat the Devil's Snare, capture the flying key, beat the chess set and choose the correct potion before Harry goes on to face Professor Quirrell and Lord Voldemort on his own.Harry manages to get the stone from the Mirror of Erised. When Professor Quirrell tries to get it from him, he discovers that he cannot touch Harry without suffering extreme pain. Harry uses this to his advantage to keep Quirrell away from him. Dumbledore arrives in time to save Harry and the stone. Professor Quirrell died from his injuries and Lord Voldemort fled.

I don't know about Walmart specifically, but you can certainly buy Harry Potter wands at all kinds of discount and junk shops. If your goal is to equip yourself for a theatrical production or fancy-dress party, you will easily find one. But here is the bad news. None of these wands can do real magic.
By worthlessly, I am assuming you mean without cause. For example James and Lily died protecting Harry, so I would call would give it worth. There are a number of deaths that could have been avoided in Harry Potter, the best example would have to be Cedric Diggory's death in the Triwizard tournament. A philosopher's stone is not known to be created. It was merely a mythical alchemical object with the power to turn base metals into gold, and was never actually possible. Unless you refer to the Harry Potter novel, in which case it was the basis for the plot of that novel.
