Stevens Arms was an American firearms manufacturer founded by Joshua Stevens in 1864 and then bought by Savage Arms in 1920 but still retained the Stevens brand on a number of its low cost rifles and shotguns. The most common and notable of these is the Stevens Model 416 .22 caliber bolt action rifle that carries the long rifle round. A large number of these were supplied to the U.S. military as training rifles. Because these were very common and cheap to manufacture, they might not fetch a valuable price in a collector's point of view.
Most were made by Savage (including Stevens and Springfield) or Mossberg, a few by Noble. Many gun price books and gunparts vendors have crossover lists for model numbers.
It was made in 1949.The going price on a savage model 99 is between 350-600 dollars depending on overall condition and a good bore.
price of westport, 16 gage model 948e made by stevens ?
i have this gun,it may be 70 years old it was my dad'sUnfortunately, the lineage of many of these rifles is a bit blurred. Stevens was acquired by Savage Arms about 1920. As a result, the same model may have the name Stevens, Savage, or Springfield (a Savage brand name), and finding an exact date of manufacture may not be possible- but you CAN check with Savage customer service through their webiste- they ARE still in business. The value of ANY gun is based on exact make, model, and condition. These very nice little rilfes were utility grade shooters, and their main value is as a shooter- not as a collector's item. In fair condition, most retail for $100-$150. Good rifles. EDIT: DID find a listing- the model 49 "Challenge" was only listed on the Stevens price list for one year-1929. Was priced at $6.
