The greenhouse effect refers to the way the sun's heat radiates up from the warmed surface of the earth, where it is absorbed by the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The more gases there are, the more heat is absorbed.

The natural greenhouse effect is supported by the water and carbon cycles. This has kept the earth warm enough for life for millions of years.

The accelerated greenhouse effect is now being caused by extra greenhouse gases that the carbon cycle can not deal with. This is causing global warming.

Answer:

The greenhouse effect is a natural process, whereby the earth's atmosphere traps some of the heat from the sun (mostly by methane and carbon dioxide gasses), warming the earth. Without it, the earth would be unable to support life.

Human activities like burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and methane from landfill sites and rice paddies are artificially increasing the effect, warming the earth unnaturally.

Put simply, it is the process whereby heat from the Sun that enters the Earth's atmosphere is unable to radiate back outwards into space because it is trapped by certain gases that have entered the Earth's atmosphere as a result of pollution generated by humankind. These gases include methane, carbon dioxide and several others. The process means that the heat cannot escape to keep the Earth's surface temperature stable and causes it to heat up in a process known as 'global warming', which is bad for the planet as it upsets the biosphere, creates climatic disruption, and leads to a thinning of the Earth's Polar ice-caps that cause a rise in sea-levels.

What is the process by which gases in the atmosphere absorb and reradiate heat?

Greenhouse Effect

What is a sentence with greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is the natural way that the Earth keeps warm. Too many extra greenhouse gases turn the greenhouse effect into an enhanced greenhouse effect. The enhanced, or accelerated, greenhouse effect is causing global warming.

The trapping of heat by a planet's atmosphere is called what?

it allows solar radiation to penetrate to the surface!

What is another name for enhanced greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is the natural process by which greenhouse gases keep the earth's temperature at a comfortable level suitable for human existence. The enhanced greenhouse effect is the increase in greenhouse gases that is leading to global warming. The term "enhanced greenhouse effect" is also referred to as the "anthropogenic greenhouse effect" and is the idea that humans may have an effect on global climate. It is also referred to as the "runaway greenhouse effect".

Trapping of heat in the earths atmosphere by certain gases is known as the?

greenhouse effect

How do you use The greenhouse effect in a sentence?

the greenhouse effect is a global phenomenon.

What do humans do to effect the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect keeps us all warm enough for life. The enhanced greenhouse effect causes global warming.

When did the Greenhouse effect start?

The Greenhouse effect started long before humans were on Earth. The Greenhouse effect is only intensified by the presence of humans.

The effect is the process by which gases in the atmosphere trap heat?

The greenhouse effect

How is the greenhouse effect caused on a molecular level?

The greenhouse effect is caused on a molecular level by the greenhouse gases combing, thus forming the greenhouse effect and that's what causes it to be on a molecular level.

What planet has an atmosphere with a greenhouse effect?

EarthVenusMarsThe greenhouse effect occurs on every planet with an atmosphere (including Earth). On Venus, there is a runaway greenhouse effect causing temperatures high enough to melt lead.Mars has a greenhouse effect that is weak because of its thin atmosphere.

How does carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses contribute the greenhouse effect?

it contributes by creating a lot of them that is why they make the greenhouse effect
