Gases like the air we breathe float up into the sky all around us. Some of these gases are good at catching the heat from the sun. We call them greenhouse gases and the main one is the carbon gas. They stay around and keep the earth warm. This is called the greenhouse effect and it is a good thing. We have had the natural greenhouse effect since before humans started living on earth.

But now a bad thing is happening. Every time a factory uses its machines, or we drive a car or a truck, or even use electricity in our homes, people have to burn coal or oil to make it all happen. And burning coal and oil puts too much of these greenhouse gases into the air.

Another mistake was cutting down too many trees. Trees and bushes can suck in that carbon gas and store it safely inside the wood. So now there are not enough trees to suck in the carbon any more.

So because of these two things, burning oil, and cutting down trees, the natural greenhouse effect that we used to have has turned into the runaway greenhouse effect getting faster and faster. This is making the earth too warm.

What is a sentence with greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is the natural way that the Earth keeps warm. Too many extra greenhouse gases turn the greenhouse effect into an enhanced greenhouse effect. The enhanced, or accelerated, greenhouse effect is causing global warming.

How is cabron dixiode related to the greenhouse effect?

Carbon dioxide helps the greenhouse in one way. Plants in the greenhouse needs carbon dioxide to grow.

What does it mean to say the greenhouse effect is like a one way valve?

A one-way valve allows flow in only one direction. The greenhouse effect involves the atmosphere allowing solar energy in, but not allowing (some of) the resulting heat back out.

How do some people reduce the greenhouse effect?

The only way to reduce the greenhouse effect is to actually remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The only way to do this is to plant trees. Trees remove carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. Some people plant trees to reduce the greenhouse effect.

How can you manage the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is now an "accelerated" greenhouse effect. In other words it is warming rapidly and causing global warming. So we need to manage it by reducing the amounts of greenhouse gases that are being added to it. Most of these are being added by burning fossil fuels. The only way to stop this is to move to renewable energy.Solar, wind, water, etc are all sources of energy that do not release carbon dioxide emissions.

Why do nitrogen and oxygen do not cause the greenhouse effect?

Nitrogen and oxygen do not cause the greenhouse effect because they are not greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor have properties that enable them to absorb and emit infrared radiation, trapping heat in the earth's atmosphere. Nitrogen and oxygen, although abundant in our atmosphere, do not have the same ability to trap heat in the same way.

Why is the word green color used in the greenhouse effect?

The "Greenhouse" effect is not referencing the colour green, instead it references the greenhouse, a building erected to allow plants to be grown in a warmer environment. Most greenhouses are built of transparent glass (no colour) and are not green either. The only green associated with the greenhouse building is the colour of the plants inside of them.

How fuel affects the environment?

Fuel affects the environment in a great way. When fuel is burned it releases CO2 into the air which is a greenhouse gas and contibutes to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is when these greenhouse gases(such as Co2) trap energy from the sun ,just like in a greenhouse, and raise the temperature of the earth. Thus causing glaciers to melt and ocean currents to change an eventually resulting in the end of the planet. So think about taking your bike for a ride once in a while.

How is the greenhouse effect helpful?

Air pollution and the release of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O) into the troposphere trap solar radiation that comes in from the sun and bounces off of the earth's surface as terrestrial radiation. Typically, the radiation would escape into space, but due to the presence of these gases, the radiation is trapped and re-radiates the earth's surface effecting the earth's temperature.Understanding the greenhouse effect can help farmers understand the level of impact they have on the environment. The majority of methane released into the atmosphere is found in manure from livestock (such as cows) due to the developing worlds' issues with over-consumption and waste (especially in the U.S.).

What would most likes increase the greenhouse effect?

Decreasing the amount of acid rain by increasing smoke pollution would increase the greenhouse effect. Adding carbon would not do it . . . it is already at its maximum effective amount. (Carbon may go up, but it will not increase the greenhouse effect.) Adding more water vapor would do it, but the only way to get more water in the air is to add more heat or wind to the air. Did you know that, without the greenhouse effect on Earth, that you and every other living thing would die from overheating and from ultraviolet light damage to skin tissues.

What is the main result of the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect will eventually result in the earth not being able to support life due to the air not been breathable and due to the future average tempreature of the earth being way too high to sustain life.

What is the meaning of greenhouse warming?

The greenhouse effect is the way certain gases in the atmosphere trap heat rising from the surface of the earth. This warming keeps the earth comfortably warm enough for life. Since the Industrial Revolution, 200 years ago, we have been adding extra gases which are now producing an enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effect which is causing global warming.
