Nominally Jesus Christ. The Pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. The British monarch (the king or queen) is the nominal head of the Anglican and Episcopal Churches, but the Archbishop of Centerbury is the effective head. The head of the Orthodox Churches is the Ecumenical Patriarch (who is considered "first among equals"). Other denominations are headed by a chairman, a president, or a council. Individual churches are headed by their pastor, or pastors, or church council.
Christianity consists of many different religions, which each have their own heads of many kinds. Some examples are Lutheran, Seventh Day Adventist, Mormon, Catholic, Methodist, Quaker, Baptist, Presbyterian, and many, many more. Some of these groups have individual subgroups that have their own head.
This would be answered differently by Protestants and Roman Catholics. In Roman Catholic teaching the head of the church is the Pope, the Holy Father in Rome. In Protestant doctrine the only head of the church is Jesus Christ, and not a human being, no matter how learned or holy.
I am Catholic and beg to differ. We consider Christ as the head of the Mystical Body of Christ. All the faithful, including the pope, make up the body. We consider the pope to the the Vicar (spokesman) of Christ on Earth. Yes the pope is our spiritual leader by Christ is still the head of the Church.
Accordng to The Bible, the head of the christian congregation is Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:22)
The worship leader is to lead. This leader can be a member of the choir or priesthood.
