Put your rat's FAVORITE treat in your mouth. Then if your rat trys to take the treat from your mouth then don't let go of the treat. When your rat licks the treat give it to him/her. Do this many times until your rat gets the idea. Then sometimes your rat might lick your mouth in hopes of a treat. (This will not work with wild rats. Wild rats will most likely bite you. If they bite you then you could get infected by a desees that a wild rat might carry.)
how could you treat a thyroidectomized rat so that it functioned like a 'normal' rat?

It's very easy to play with your pet rat. You can just carry him around or try to teach him tricks. You can also hold them for a little while or give them little treats. You can put a treat next to him and when he gets near it move it away. Continue doing it for a minute then finally give it to him. I do this with my rat all the time and he loves it. I call it the treat game. You can introduce new toys to your rat and tease him with it. He will have alot of fun with that. You can make up your own games too. No matter what you do with your rat, always try new games so he doesn't get bored.
I am an animal lover and I think hamsters should NOT be concidered a rat so do NOT treat it like a filthy rat.
Yes, they can. it is not the healthiest though. You should give it to them as a treat.

Yes it is also known as a treat to some. Give your rat a peice of cheese and some other healthy food.
No, pancakes are not toxic to chickens. However, they are not the healthiest treat. If you are going to give these to your chickens, do so sparingly. They are better off with fresh treats like watermelon or kitchen scraps like vegetable peels.
all I give my dog is water that's healthiest I say
