Software is the limitation. You could try an 8 GB SD high speed card and see if it is recognized. Frankly, we would recommend two 4 GB cards instead of one 8 GB anyway. Memory cards do fail, and with up to 400 images at highest quality on a 4 GB card, it's nice to have a spare in case there's a problem. That way you can keep shooting and worry about salvaging the images off the "bad" card later.
