The higher the megapixel the clearer the finish. 2.0-3.0 megapixel cameras are pretty standard right now so anywhere from 2.0 and up will give you a better quality. Buying a higher quailty camera makes all the difference. If you want everyday great pictures then your standard 2.0+ megapixel camera will be great. If you are looking for a more professional look then that depends on lense, quality, etc.
